Sorry, perhaps I should re-phrase my question: _where_ did you see the deal?
iirc, I saw it in online ad. I was just browsing when I saw it.

Wish they'd bring back the no fee online, def way easier vs in store.
They had it for a couple weeks this season.
My thoughts are that this is a "loss leader" to get customers into the store and possibly make other purchases. That doesn't happen nearly as often if the deal is online.

Sorry for bothering you, but any chance you (or anyone else watching this thread) can include a screenshot? Not just of the prepaid Visa promo, but of the areas of the webpage around it? I've been scouring the weekly ad for months (and this latest one for an hour), but I don't see it. I'm trying to figure out if 1) I'm blind, or 2) somehow the Staples website is selectively omitting this promo from my view.

For example, I've attached a screenshot of the top part of the weekly ad. There's a noticeable space between tiles (if I click on that empty space, a dotted line box appears, but nothing else happens), so if Staples is removing this promo from my view, perhaps it's there. Months ago, when Staples switched to the new format (for weekly ads), it was easy to identify the prepaid Visa and MC promos, but not anymore (for me).

Any thoughts, anyone? Even if I use an incognito browser window, I still get the same results.

*edit* Today (Tuesday), I received a Staples email that shows me the prepaid Visa deal (with an email account not associated with my Staples account), so at least I can see it. Still can't see it on the Weekly Ad pages.

I was looking for the gift card on the weekly ads, and can NOT see it too. And yes, I saw the blank "spot" yesterday like you have on your screenshot. And yes, I just saw it on the email I got from Staples. Not sure if they are hiding the ads from certain folks. Tried Brave and Chrome.

Thanks for the screenshot! Unfortunately, still no prepaid Visa ad, today. The "blank spot" is gone here, too.

"Issued from MN" yeah, I think I would stay away from anything financial related to MN. $18+ billion, some reports up to $100 - $200 billion of US and MN tax payers dollars smuggled to Somalia Al Quada and pirates, layers upon layers, upon layers of fraud, multiple, multiple flights each Somali, each flight with $750,000 bags of cash, Somali Al Quada military officers like sister-wife's Omar's Dad (responsible for mass graves of Christians in Somaliland) each bank $60,000/year US in Somalia (your tax dollars).

About the only thing you can do is call and ask them if they are aware whether it works locally for you. Or visit and have them try is all else fails. They also might have flyers in the store to look for it.

The good news is that they will probably do this with MC gift cards within the next 2 weeks, if they follow their normal pattern.

Thanks. & I _do_ have some use for the MC cards, but I typically aim for the Visa cards for my Costco purchases (since in-store, they only accept Visa). Thank God for this community, so I can still get news of these sales!

Buying Visa GCs issued by a bank in MN, does not go to that state's coffers.

At first, I thought you were worried that the cash instruments' value aspect might fail for these. But you went another way.

Getting 5% for my free money-like purchase is a good return from Chase Ink. For example, I have property taxes due soon. They take these over the phone.

Boycotting these would be like cutting my nose off to spite my face. Take that, MN!
Oh, wait. You mean I could have gotten hundreds of free dollars for paying for things I have to spend on anyway?
My opinion, but you do you.

I do not hold these long-term. There is direct fraud by thieves trying to scam.
Always inspect and watch for tampering at the point of purchase. Nothing to do with the state of MN.

They have upped their security on these. They're a pain to open now. The account number is partially covered, as well as the CVV, with some serious-adhesive backed covering. Not foolproof, but better. There is also a potential for brute force attacks on the account numbers, exp dates, and CVV codes. Some websites do not require your CVV code to make a purchase. Insane.

I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of these gift cards from Staples each month for the last half year. While a majority of the cards have worked well, I did have an issue with some and their customer service is horrible. Can't get in touch with anyone by phone and their email responses seem automated and slow. A couple of these cards mysteriously had their funds emptied shortly after activation and even before the security code being scratched off. Then they want selfies with you, pictures of the card and your drivers license to move forward for some investigations. I'm steering away from these for now.

Not yet.. I would love to.

There are others who just post as soon as they see it like everyone will miss the Visa cards sell if they do not buy it in middle of the night.

I will continue to post these..
