As an alternate, buy a refurb 10 inch fire tablet from woot sales for around $35 and use an android app for calendar to achieve similar functionality (unless I am missing the point, happy to be corrected).

Not to mention a few additional uses of that tablet like a smart device controller display, weather station, digital photo frame etc.

You are exactly right. Like if you are giving your information away, at least do it with a big company that invests a lot in security. Not some random company selling their crappy screen to you then profit more on your data

I did get a 10 inch tablet from woot and the battery didn't even last a year.
However, they did say they were refunding the cost.

Nice video. He discusses a lot of applications. However, none of them is a calendar.

Yes, agreed. Those are just examples. And a quick search via F-Droid indicated a few open source calendar and time management apps available for android: https://search.f-droid.org/?q=calendar&lang=en

And if you use Google Play Store .. there might be other options as well - I have not researched though
