If only Intel supported several generations of CPU per socket… If they did much better deal than AMD motherboards with much less lane sharing while keeping USB4, of course the RAM is unaffordable and easily exceeds the cost of the motherboard and CPU.

I don't really think that's a problem for most.

I generally spend a pretty penny when putting my rig together which usually lasts 3-5 CPU generations. I feel like even if I were team red, I would always fall on a new architecture whenever its time for me to rebuild.

I think it's different in this case because arrow Lake is such a horrible release. Unless you're only doing productivity. I'm hoping that panther will be a much better desktop CPU. If I knew that Intel was going to keep this socket I would've already bought this motherboard as this is a great price.

This is historically correct. It's just AM4 wouldn't die and showed people the true value of long lasting platform. Like going from 1000 series ryzen to 5000 series ryzen was an insane upgrade. Even going 3000 series ryzen to 5000 series ryzen was very significant. It's nice to have the option, but shouldn't be a deal breaker imo.

Pretty sure panther lake CPU's are for laptops, not for desktops

uncertainty kills the deal for me. Even for intel a socket usually lasts for 2 seasons. This one might last for only one. For AMD, I can purchase an elite board for a discount now and wait for the CPU and DRAM price to go down. I cannot do that for Intel.

If you live near Microcenter, and are building a PC, you'd be a fool to not jump on their mobo, cpu, ram bundles.

so glad when i built my win11 pc last year i didn't cheap out and get 2x8gb ddr5.
i remember being upset i had to spend $20 more for better cas timing 2x16gb

I live about 40 miles away from Microcenter which I don't exactly consider near. But I finally bit the bullet and drove there to buy a Ryzen bundle a couple weeks ago. Normally I wouldn't bother driving that far to buy anything, but their bundle discounts are insane considering RAM pricing these days. Paid $530 + tax for Ryzen 7700X, mobo and 32 GB RAM. The RAM alone is now $400 at MC lol.
