Looking at this myself. Looks like the 5070 is like 10-20% faster (limited by 8gb of ram) vs the 5060. If you do a 5060 build with 32gb of ram, it's only $120 cheaper than the 5070. Hard to determine if it's worth it, the resale of the 5070 down the road would probably make up for that...

So tempted, very torn between this and the 16".

The Core Ultra 7 255HX is a fair amount faster than this Core Ultra 9 285H, the HX line has a higher TDP and everything.
The 5070 Ti is a fair amount better than the 5070 by a fair amount. The extra 4gb (12gb vs 8gb) is pretty massive "they say".

Well don't log into id.me for a military discount, I can no longer get the 10% off with the belkin hdmi cable, and I can't figure out how to remove the association with my account. Guess I'm going to have to make a new account...

For getting 275HX or any HX series CPU from Intel and AMD, you need to get full sized Gaming laptops, not 14" ones. If you are looking for performance and portability is not your major concern, get the 16" model. It is not just 5070 vs 5070 Ti but a 75W 5070 vs a 140W 5070 Ti.

The 5070 is more powerful, but will be limited by the same 8GB VRAM as the 5060.

That said, don't be put off by the low wattage of this 5070 - I got a Lenovo Legion 7i non-Pro Gen 10 with 5070, and undervolted it from its full 115 watts to ~80 watts, and it performs like a power sipping beast. 30% less power for only ~5-10% lower performance.

Oh I understand the differences.... I'm just trying to understand what I can live with.

It's also sadly not even a 75W 5070. It's a 60w 5070.

Edit: Ok, maybe I was wrong it's not 60w, it's a 75w TDP 5070.
