Rtings gives this TV a 8.2 out of 10 score. Noting,
The Sony BRAVIA 7 has amazing brightness capabilities. Its SDR brightness is superb, so you can crank up the luminance in a bright room to overcome glare. The TV also has excellent HDR brightness, leading to highlights that truly pop out.

I have this and it's mostly great, but the glare is a real issue even with indirect light. There is also a problem with optical audio not working that is "fixed" with a hard restart (hold down power button for 30s until it restarts). If you have an older audio system that is worth mentioning. It's very intermittent (0-3 times a week) but very annoying

When that tv climbs down off its $2400 perch I'll get one
Unless you need a Tv right now you would be well advised to wait for the TCL QM8K over this Sony
Wait until at or around Super Bowl time, I suspect we see a drop then based on where the TCL price was in December

Serious question: TCL is really that good?
yes
The TCL QM8K is
The only downside is if you watch less than HD programming
Even then I would tell you if you want everything the TCL QM8K does along with better processing /tone mapping you have to go with the Sony bravia 9....which is typically 2X -2.5X the cost of the TCL
This coming from a person who own the Sony A95L , though its an OLED , I know what Sony processing and tone mapping looks like

Not worth 2X -2.5X the price for the Bravia 9
I see, thanks

Isn't it $500 more expensive, though?
