This is the "new gen" Hexon tech. It is instant heat, and I mean instant. You lose the pocket heater found in the tough shell.
What pissed me off is the new proprietary battery holder. This is a 2-prong system that literally only powers the coat. It doesn't show you remaining battery life or allow you to charge/power other devices because they took away the USB-out port.
It's a good product if you understand the limitations and it fits your use case. That being said, this price is not slick. I think this product was a big whiff and miss for Big Red and it'll get clearanced down below $80 for the kit.
