Seems like a pretty good deal. I liked Tello when I tried them, but that was back in the Sprint coverage days I think. They are T-Mobile coverage now, but a top benefit was their support quality iirc. Generally positive experience from me.

Yes, I agree. While there have been posts on SD lately complaining about customer service, all of my interactions with support have been great. I contacted them two weeks ago because I redeemed $20 in Tello dollars to a paygo balance last January, then they changed the referral program to make earning more difficult for the referrer. I complained that I never would have redeemed that much knowing about the plan changes and asked them to convert part of the balance back to Tello dollars. They responded within hours with a full refund of the order from almost a year prior and restored the $20 in Tello dollars, even though I had used about $3 of it. Since our line is on a $5/month plan, that will give me another four months of service!

Are you serious? How would it benefit me to lie about my customer service experience? Email attached.

For anyone that cares, I've been using tele for a few years with zero problems. You do have to pay $3 extra per month to get the enhanced call blocking would you can enable in the website . I like Tello because it has advanced features such as restricting the internet on the phone from reaching unwanted types of adult websites which is cool for children . You can also block social media Etc . Do the same with your home Wi-Fi and your kids will never be able to access that stuff . Unless they use a VPN ...

With no contract , able to jump between the different plans they offer without any fee for doing so. Just wait a day before your plan is due for payment else, you won't get back the remaining days .

If I manual renew on the 29th day, will the unused data from the 50GB rolls over to next month?

How long can I wait after purchase to activate, anyone know?
lipagold answered above: if you order a physical SIM, you have 30 days. If you go with eSIM, it activates immediately. So even if you want eSIM, you might want to order a physical SIM to buy extra time then convert later.

No, unfortunately manual renewal will void the promotion AND the unlimited plan is excluded from rollover. But if you downgrade after the six months, you can start rolling at that time.

From the Help Center:
Any unused minutes or data will be lost after 30 days, when your plan is automatically renewed.
Once your plan is renewed automatically, your plan starts again with the fixed monthly allowance of minutes & data.

There is one exception:
Unused service WILL roll over ONLY if you manually renew or change your plan at least 24 hours before the end of your current billing cycle and ONLY if the new plan contains all the services that you previously had.
For example, the minutes & data of your current plan will roll over if the new plan has minutes & data.
However, if you decide to buy data only, the minutes will not roll over.

Also note that if the autopay renewal fails because your payment method could not be charged or because you forgot to set up the 48-hour notification, then no balance will be rolled over and those balances are not refundable.

Manually changing or renewing a plan can only be done by customers from their online accounts.
Our Customer Support team will not add back balances to your account if you forgot to manually renew/change your plan or the 48-hour notification failed or your billing failed.

Early renewal and changing of your plan may also void any promotion or plan discount that you initially started with.

*Rollover does not apply for the Unlimited plans.

You don't "have to" move to a different carrier though. Tello's pricing is competitive and service is good. You can just switch to a different plan, not carrier.

A couple of questions re: this T&C paragraph: "You'll pay $10/month, no upfront 6-month payment needed. After 6 months, the plan will revert to the standard price of $25/month. Any changes to the plan, including cancellation or downgrade, will result in the loss of the promotional pricing."
  1. Is this a monthly payment charged to my credit card?
  2. If I do cancel, say after 4 mos, will they charge my CC the difference between discounted and non-discounted pricing of the unlimited plan for the 4 months I had the plan?

You can cancel at any time by going to your dashboard and clicking Cancel Plan and Autopay. By default, autopay is on so yes, your card will be charged monthly until you actively cancel. But you will not owe anything when canceling even if you use it for only one month.

good way to get a new number plus one month of service of 50GB data.
Sounds like you plan to use the month of service, but just wanted to point out if you (or anyone else) is doing this to get a number to port out, Tello imposes a waiting period of something like 9 days before giving port-out information for new numbers. I had tried to get a number quickly for one of the Total Wireless deals and ended up waiting longer than expected before I could port.

Wild to me that so many seem to be ok with Tello service.

I had it for my kids for a couple years, seemed to be working great, then they "upgraded" everyone to slightly more data but no more low-speed data once you ran out.

That meant that when their data ran out, so did the ability to receive or respond to group texts.

I don't know how anyone else can accept this glaring deficiency - teens live through group texts.

I was pretty pissed... ended up migrating all their lines to Good2go mobile which was even cheaper, and still to this day has (very slow but functional) data when you run out of your primary data.

GPS works, music works, group texts work ... all things Tello cuts you off from when your data runs out, which makes it a non-starter imo.

My concern was with this sentence - "Any changes to the plan, including cancellation or downgrade, will result in the loss of the promotional pricing."
That "loss of the promotional pricing" part concerns me as it might mean that they will charge me the difference between pricings ($15/mo) for the months I had the plan. In my example of 4 mos of usage - $60 charge to my CC. I sent Tello an inquiry regarding this and will wait for their definitive answer before I order.

thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I was thinking about getting a second number for a future port out, so I can wait a little bit, maybe using one or two months of their service before porting out, but not too soon.
