These travel routers still escape my comprehension despite having watched many YT videos about them over the years.

Other than being able to share a single connection on a cruise or VPN everything connected to it ..what else can these do that would be of particular interest?

Would we be able to tether a bunch of people to one phone and not have it appear as hotspot usage, for example? Never understood the whole 'TTL hack.' TIA!

They're charging twice as much in additional charges as sales tax.

I believe it prevents your devices being exposed on the public network like a hotel.

Also I have remember seeing a woman being banned on cruise for using something like this.

Interesting that this unit is literally exactly the same price on Amazon as the full Flint2. Beyond WiFi7 what on earth else justifies that kind of pricing?

You can throw it in your bag for travel, it has a touch screen to quickly access features vs going in an admin app/webpage

Not just a cruise. Hotel room, airplane, car, or wherever you need to connect multiple devices to a single cell hotspot or hotel/airplane connection. But the reason to use this is to encrypt the traffic if you're using an untrusted network. You can VPN to your home network and access your resources at home or appear to be at home for streaming service purposes.

It is much smaller. If you use unifi, ubiquity has one out for $60

You can have 1 trusted SSID for travel. This particular router can have 100% VPN tunnel to home or VPN provider. It can attach to networks via Wi-Fi or wired.

TTL adjustments only matter for celluar modem routers, a TTL adjustment can allow a voice sim to work and it looks like phone hotspot data, not on a dedicated router. Its a neat trick for those free TMO voice sims they give out.
