It's good to see some wise enthusiasts dispelling the FUD here.
Panasonic is the 1a to Sony's 1.
And people, including me, still think their plasmas were the most well-rounded TVs ever made.
I missed the pre Xmas sale on this TV but hit the buy button today. So thanks OP!

also for those who think Fire TV is a negative on this TV- we'll Amazon announced last week they will be updating the Fire TV UI and make it more Google TV like & snappier.

Would snag it not LG based WOLED.
Hopefully they adopt QD-OLED tech in the future.

If they got rid of the silly speaker that makes the TV taller (or made it detachable) and adopted GTV like Sony then these would be in strong consideration from me. Love the brand but those two things are deal killers for me. Shame as their sets perform very well and are roughly equivalent to Sony with their (top notch) processing.

Not likely.
Their new models(ie Z95b) uses tandem Oled panels, same as the LG G5.

LG is working on a PH-Oled panel that Panny will likely use as well.

The lower price you see on Panasonic and other TV brands that use fire OS are likely because Amazon is subsidizing those units. Not having fire OS on the TV means paying a higher price. Also check out the comment above where Amazon may be improving fire OS to make it more like Google TV. Let's hope.

I use a PC with my TV for everything, so choice of TV OS doesn't matter to me. :-)

Yeah I know. Not worth the savings.

I have read that even setting it up and configuring it for basic use with a streamer is extremely annoying and difficult with this TV due to the OS so I'd rather pay more for a Sony or something else decent. Shame Panny handicapped themselves this way but they are not known for their business acumen.

If you want one for your puter then go for it. I'd like for someone to buy their TV's so they stay in the market. Just not me at this time.

Same here. 60" plasma from 2012 ST50 series. I just checked the hours on it and it's over 23k w no issues. Recently upgraded to a LGC4 OLED and it's so much brighter.

60ST60 from 2013 still my daily driver.
Just got this Panny because it's too much of a hi-performer to pass up @ this price.

Panasonic is a premium Japanese brand. They are experimenting with re-entry into the US market.
Bought one from AAFES over Christmas for my daughter and they love it. Even though it was last years model it is perfect.
