Anyone compared this to the mini LED costco one? I know that Mini-LED is higher quality for brightness and color, but its double the price.

For this TV: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/98qd5qg
For the U65QF (they tested the 65" version though): www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u65qf

The contrast on this TV is rather bad, even among TV's without dimming zones. The brightness is adequate for watching in a lit room, but definitely not enough for HDR and nothing special. If you just want a big screen and don't care about the picture quality this TV is fine. Otherwise, the other TV Is worth double IMHO.

Thanks for the response, that's what I figured. Just waiting for a price drop at Costco I'm assuming when super bowl or presidents day.

All brands have different product lines, some may be great in technique, some may be budget friendly. Having the brand name of Samsung or LG doesn't mean you are buying a great TV.
In terms of TVs, especially big TVs like this, Hisense/TCL are great brands nowadays.

Had a Hisense screen die after just 3 years. I've never had a TV screen die in such a short time period. Maybe just bad luck, but it wouldn't be surprising if they are cutting some corners on quality to achieve the price points.

Amazing price though.

This is a very very basic budget tv just in huge size. IPS panel with no local dimming, low brightness, contrast is REALLY bad (sub 1000:1), blacks will look very gray; etc...

For the price right now it's not a bad deal, but I'd wait for other 98-100" TVs with local dimming to come down to $1,200-$1,500 range probably coming up in super bowl/spring season as new sets start to come out. The other tvs with local dimming are just immensely better overall and if you're spending a grand a few hundred more will get you a WAY better set. The 98" TCL QM6k will probably come down close to that price range I mentioned and it has 500 zones of local dimming, gets twice as bright as this set, has over 116,000:1 contrast ratio compared to 1,000:1 on this one, better colors, etc...This is also a straight up recommended set over saving the money on this Hisense set.

The QM6k was $1,500 not that long ago, it will come to that again or maybe even cheaper coming up:
