For this TV: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/98qd5qg
For the U65QF (they tested the 65" version though): www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u65qf

The contrast on this TV is rather bad, even among TV's without dimming zones. The brightness is adequate for watching in a lit room, but definitely not enough for HDR and nothing special. If you just want a big screen and don't care about the picture quality this TV is fine. Otherwise, the other TV Is worth double IMHO.

All brands have different product lines, some may be great in technique, some may be budget friendly. Having the brand name of Samsung or LG doesn't mean you are buying a great TV.
In terms of TVs, especially big TVs like this, Hisense/TCL are great brands nowadays.

Thanks for the response, that's what I figured. Just waiting for a price drop at Costco I'm assuming when super bowl or presidents day.

I own a U9N mini LED with 144Hz and the most amazing brightness and color fidelity.

Hisense has a readily available chart which shows the NITS of all of the HDTV's, and I'd highly suggest that you check that out before deciding which model to purchase.

In my case, the U9 was on a major sale, and it wasn't that much more than the next lower model, and the features were pretty much an order of magnitude better. Quite frankly it's the best looking television that I've ever owned, and the only things I've seen that are better, are OLEDs which are WAY more expensive.

My personal opinion is that a smaller TV with a better quality picture is a better choice over a huge screen with a lower quality picture.

Here's the 75" U9 on sale at Walmart as a reference:

Hisense TVs, particularly the 2024–2026 Mini-LED ULED lineup, are known for exceptionally high peak brightness, with top models exceeding 5,000 nits. The flagship 116UX leads with up to 8,000 nits, while the U8QG and U9N series offer 3,000–5,000+ nits for bright-room performance. Mid-range models like the U75QG provide roughly 3,000 nits, and entry-level Mini-LEDs (U6 series) deliver around 1,000+ nits. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Hisense TV Peak Brightness (Nits) Comparison Chart

| Series/Model [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] | Reported Peak Brightness (Nits) | Primary Technology | Key Feature |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 116UX | Up to 8,000 | RGB-MiniLED | Top-tier Brightness |
| U9N Series | 5,000+ | Mini-LED | High-end Brightness |
| U8QG (2025/26) | 3,000 - 5,000+ | Mini-LED Pro | Flagship Performance |
| U75QG/U7K (2025/26) | 3,000 | Mini-LED Pro | Gaming/Sports Focus |
| U65QF/U6 (2025/26) | 1,000 - 1,100+ | Mini-LED | Entry-level MiniLED |
| A85H (2022) | ~800 | OLED | Deep Blacks |

Key Takeaways

• Flagship (U8/U9/116UX): These models excel in bright, sunny rooms, with the U8QG often testing between 3,300 and 4,000+ nits, making them competitive with much more expensive OLEDs.
• Mid-Range (U7): The U75QG/U7K provides a strong balance, with 3,000 nits capable of creating intense HDR highlights for gaming.
• Entry-Level (U6): Even the lower-end Mini-LED U6 series offers over 1,000 nits, which is sufficient for high-quality HDR, performing well at 1,010–1,138 nits.
• OLED (A85H): The OLED models focus on perfect contrast over high nits, typically peaking around 800 nits. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Disclaimer: Peak brightness varies by panel size and specific testing conditions (e.g., 10% vs. 100% window). [5, 7, 8]

Costco has the Hisense 100U65QFC for $1700 delivered with 5yr warranty. In-warehouse price might be lower.

In warehouse I do see the TCL 98QM6K 98" mini-led for $1500.

In case anyone wants to compare, here's what rtings thinks:

Had a Hisense screen die after just 3 years. I've never had a TV screen die in such a short time period. Maybe just bad luck, but it wouldn't be surprising if they are cutting some corners on quality to achieve the price points.
I would say just a bit of bad luck. I have a 65 inch Hisense that I got for $240 at Best buy 5 years ago and still going strong and not a single dead pixel of else

Much respect to keeping hard working Americans money here and not giving it to communist nations.
Like paying taxes so billions can be given to others countries without congressional approval?

Price is ok, I guess. I bought the 100" version for $1,200. including free shipping, installation and free 40" cheap fire tv. I upgraded from a 14yr old 60" plasma TV so the upgrade difference was massive.

If you're upgrading from a plasma or 60" TV then I would recommend the upgrade at this price point. Just do some research to properly calibrate the TV. I did and was pleasantly surprised at the color and picture quality for being a low-end panel. Then again I watch content in a dark room 95% of the time so the colors pop and the black levels are good.
