I had no idea what this was and I thought these were buttons that you could use to customize your current PS5 controller with. However, this is a controller for those that can't use the standard PS5 controller.

Really awesome Sony has this.

What would be cool too is if Sony had a splash page about it on the PS5, with an option that would allow people to donate, even $1, towards these controllers for players who need them.

I've been a quadriplegic for 14 years, and controllers like this were almost non-existent. I was an avid gamer when I had my accident at 21yo that left me unable to use my fingers. I looked far and wide to find an accessible controller, and eventually saved up to buy the most affordable one. It was a $500 waste. I would've done anything to be able to have the chance play games again, and distract myself from the sht hand I was just dealt.

Don't speak for others. Most of us appreciate any help offered, especially something like a special controller after a life altering accident. These would've been great when I wound up at the Rehabilitation Institution of St Louis. There were more young patients than old, and most of them just lost their ability to be physically independent and financially independent.

Boo hoo, you have to pay more for your controller, and it gets stick drift over time. I'd love to have your problems.

Hey, if you want to save money buying this controller instead of a standard Dualsense knock yourself out. Aside from being mad that someone with physical limitations catches a break every now and then, probably worth noting that these do not have the rumble, haptic triggers, etc that a standard controller has so they're likely cheaper to produce.

Sony's Access Controller is a customizable PS5 accessibility kit built for players who cannot use a standard DualSense, not a cosmetic add on. It stands out for making console gaming more reachable, especially for people with hand injuries, limited finger use, or other physical limitations. The kit is also described as lacking rumble and haptic triggers, which helps explain the lower price. Practical use depends on the game, since titles needing two analog sticks may require two units, while simpler games can work with one.

Would you be making the same income if you had "bum hands" to the extent that you couldn't play a video game with a standard controller? If so, you are likely one of the very few...
Ok ok point taken. I gotta say I wasn't being serious, but I am certainly getting reemed in these replies. ✌️

They're already cheaper than the controllers we gotta buy. They're not poor charity cases, they just got bum hands.

What would be better is if Sony controllers in general didn't get stick drift so often.

Sure. Just tell Sony to jack up controller prices to $150 a piece. Because these things when not on clearance are $90 a stick. And you need two of them.

So by your logic $150 a controller is a deal.

Are these meant to be used in pairs? In other words, need to buy two of these?

It will depend on the game. If it needs 2 analog sticks then yes.

But you can D-PAD and the 4 buttons on the same side if needed. Losing the trigger/bumps and press down. So 2 is ideal. But if you have a game that plays with very few buttons then you can get away with one.

Yeah, MS was the first one to make this and it's very much considered a charity. They supposedly even open sourced the plans so Sony could take it (they offered). However, Sony made their own, which is cool too. I'm thinking of getting this, although I'm not differently abled yet.
Yet?!? You looking forward to the day you can't use your fingers normally?

Obviously not looking forward to it, but I'm noticing some issues in my finger already. I'm doing a lot of exercises, but youth is leaving me fast. It will come for us all, and I didn't believe it when people before me told me to treasure your youth and here I am in the same boat.
