Electric heating is a lot less efficient than gas (gas heat is cheaper per unit of heat, bang per buck), a factor to consider especially with rising energy costs.

Technically, electric heat is 100% efficient.

Infrared heaters are much more efficient as the heat is radiated on infrared spectrum not visible by human eye (traditional electric heaters heat the environment on visible light spectrum and much of the heat is wasted hence not efficient)

It lists garage under recommended uses. I was wondering if there is a distance recommendation since my garage ceilings aren't very high.

I'm guessing these are the for the people that don't want to start a fire...or can't have a fire.

I have a different brand but same power and style. The thing to know is that infrared heaters don't heat the air. You only feel the heat on your skin/body if you are in range of the heater. So if you have a work area in your garage you stand at, it can help. But it won't just make the garage warmer.

This is the reason I returned the crappy dish shaped heater that Costco sold year after year, and just got a $20 small space heater, heats up my small office very cosy, one of those cheap LASKO 1500W units.

I don't believe 1500W will be enough to heat much outdoors, unless you are sitting right below this thing, though I would love to get something like this for the deck because it says water proof and just point to where we sit.
