Double check this- but I believe if you book any fare (enter your skymiles number of course) using your gift card and cancel within 24 hours they refund the amount as an ecredit to your skymiles account, but it then has to be used within one year. Of course if you book refundable (or non-cancellation fee) fares you can cancel after 24 hours. Like I said, double check me. I don't know another way of loading the funds into your account.
