The Moto G Power 5G 2024 stands out as a budget unlocked phone with unusually strong specs for the money, including 8GB of RAM, eSIM support, a 120Hz display, wireless charging, and a microSD card slot. It handles everyday work apps, travel, hotspot use, and general daily use well, and the battery and overall reliability draw praise. The main caveat is the screen, which can dim from the side and wash out in bright sun, and security updates are expected to end in March 2027. The Best Buy Visible bundle can drop the effective price to about $80 to $105, depending on taxes and whether the SIM refund clears.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. If the Visible SIM is refunded or the pickup expires, the phone can end up around $79.99 plus tax, with some orders showing about $85.67 total depending on local tax. The SIM refund is what creates the lower effective price.

  • Add the phone and the specific Visible SIM kit together, then the phone price drops by about $50. The qualifying SIM is the $26 or $33 Visible kit, while the $19 SIM does not trigger the discount.

  • It handles Trello, Slack, email, Zoom, quick document writing, hotspot use, and travel media playback well. It can also be cleaned up by removing bloatware to get closer to stock Android.

  • Yes, it supports eSIM as well as a physical SIM. One unlocked TracFone model also worked with a 1-day Nomad trial eSIM.

  • Security updates are expected to end in March 2027. That leaves roughly one more year of updates from the time of these comments.

Not the same price on Amazon. When you bundle with the sim @ BestBuy, it comes out to $105. Also, I just sold the free XBOX monthly pass that gives you for $7.39 (net after fees).
I like the phone and price. Now, have to think what to do with the Visible sim.

I'm thinking of using it for one of the "port-in required" deals, if there's ever one that's worth trying.

Well, you could try not picking up and might get that $26 back and keep the $50 discount.

Did you try? They are bundled discount. If you only pickup the phone, you may not get discount on it.

I had the phone shipped and the sim card for store pickup. The pickup window expires Tuesday, so I won't know until Wednesday. But, looking at other threads, some people have reported a refund for not picking up.

They are charged separately on the credit card. They would have to charge me $50 separately to recoup and I would dispute that.

Thanks. Please update after your pick up window expires.

As my friend's case, he had both shipped to home, then he tried to return SIM to store keeping the phone, the store rep couldn't process the refund of $26 SIM, instead their system showed a charge amount (original price of Moto $129 minus what he paid for the bundle) of around $25.

From what I have seen.. you HAVE to not pickup in store to capture all potential savings.

Does this one support eSIM?
Yes, this has esim. My tracfone model unlocked last week and I tried a 1 day trial esim from Nomad and it worked just fine.

You can get pretty close if you don't mind buying refurb devices. Revvl tab 5g on eBay, T-Mobile unlocked with 1 year warranty, $95. Helio G99 with 6GB of RAM, 2000*1200 resolution. https://ebay.us/m/bquE0m

Important note here: Dark Shadow is the name of the colorway for the device. It confused the heck outta me thinking all these devices had LCD burn in issues until I learned that.
What a bro. Ordered. Repped

Failure at store return here. but I am thinking about trying the mail return. At the store it was essentially higher amount due if they did the return and they couldn't override it or chose not to? But they were nice about it. Only thing giving me pause is if I do the mail return and they end up charging me more... Then I would have to contest the charge. Not sure the hassle is worth the $26 right now.

Based on someone's experience I ordered phone to ship home and visible plan as pickup which I didn't pickup and got canceled yesterday. Yet to get the refund of $26. I tried to cancel earlier online but the system removed the bundle and requested me to pay $24 to cancel it. Will update if I get refund.
