Well now that Verizon has got their waiver so the straight talk and visible purchases will no longer unlock after 60 days something like this looks a lot more compelling if you want razr.

Best buy does have a trade-in program. For stuff sold directly from them anyways if you're buying something that's partnered through a carrier or something or being unlocked through them I don't know if it's applicable.

But it wasn't particularly generous unless there was a subsidy with a fresh launch usually. So like if the brand new pixel or Samsung comes out usually they'll increase the trade-in value of the older phones with a subsidy

Maybe it depends on region or something but when I click on it there's a huge thing right above the pricing that says "trade in your device."

I live in the US. It's possible trade in might vary depending on where you live or whatever I don't know.

But what if you just don't activate the SIM card you get from Best Buy?

They already create the line when you do online order so you will be in the hook for the payments if you don't cancel it cleanly. You don't need to activate the SIM card, you just need to cancel the line.

Thanks for confirming! I had to spend some time fighting the CS to get my line disconnected & make sure there's no charge for my first month of service and the activation fee. Hope I won't receive a bill one month later 🙏

You still might receive a bill at which point you can chat and void the fees.
