Multiple comments on Steam state that the game was in early access for several years and when the devs abandoned the game, they just removed the early access. The devs announced back in September 2025 that they are working on a new game, Akina [steampowered.com], which looks identical to Initial Drift (uses the same assets).

The game is still largely unfinished and it shows. Multiple users complain about the servers disconnecting them after a few seconds and getting stuck in walls, forcing a disconnect.

A broken game is still broken, even if it's free.

Couldn't get it. "Error - There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later."
