I've been watching the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X since it's release. I'm still personally waiting on a better price, but I figured I'd share this since it's the best I've seen so far for the X version.

I'm waiting for a price drop too but wouldn't trust a "fair" or "good" open box. Excellent is only $50 less so at that point just buy a new

I'm still using my Best Buy fair condition og Rog ally. Goodness though, $890 used for this thing is still so expensive.

Do some googling and you'll see Asus confirmed that they are raising the prices of their handhelds. Not to mention, all of these handhelds have RAM in them and with the RAM shortage due to AI, these will just get more expensive... Bestbuy good condition and even fair are incredible values. If you're on the fence, go to the store and take a look at em. The biggest thing with them is just fingerprints on the screen for the most part. They also have the 1 year manufactuer warranty. Open box good is worth it.

Yeah, I'm still not biting. Hardware wise, I think this gets interesting at $800. But it's still got so much further to go on software. There are some good things from FSE, but it has enough RAM so the extra RAM savings of FSE are not as big a deal as with a 16GB handheld. The "ai" aspect of this Z2E is still unrealized and you're getting the same screen, same amount of ram (though the XAX RAM is slightly faster), same storage as the Ally X.
You do get better low TDP efficiency and you get the better ergonomics. I just don't see the great value here. But it does have greater potential admittedly.

They can raise it, and people can buy it less. They aren't OWED customers or certain profit margins.
