Spec Upgrade (The Deal-Breaker)
The 512GB and 1TB models are not the same computer. Apple "bins" the chips for lower storage tiers.

iPad Pro 1TB: 16GB RAM + 10-Core CPU (4 Performance Cores).
The "Matte Shield" Fear
Your concern about the Nano-texture looking like a "matte shield" is partially correct, but often exaggerated.
The Downside: In a pitch-black room, the "inkiness" of the OLED blacks will look slightly dark gray/hazy compared to the glossy glass. The "pop" of HDR movies is slightly reduced.
The Upside: In literally any other lighting (living room with lamps, office, coffee shop, train, outdoors), the glossy OLED acts like a black mirror. The Nano-texture preserves contrast better in these environments because you aren't fighting reflections of your own face or the window.
The Touch: The Nano-texture feels like smooth paper/satin. It is arguably the best surface for gaming (your fingers glide effortlessly without sticking) and Apple Pencil work.

I do really miss the keyboard folio from my M1 though. I wish this was still a option for the M4 but it's not due to the magnet changes Apple did and they didn't update this keyboard to match.

I do really miss the keyboard folio from my M1 though. I wish this was still a option for the M4 but it's not due to the magnet changes Apple did and they didn't update this keyboard to match.
However, I think the calculation changes when we look at Apple Intelligence and the hybrid AI model we're moving toward (Local + Cloud).
While cloud options like Gemini handle the heavy lifting, Apple is pushing hard for on-device processing for privacy and speed. That local intelligence is extremely RAM-hungry. The 1TB M4 has 16GB of RAM (vs 8GB in the 256/512GB models).
