This PSU has 2 12V-2x6 slots and only 3 PCIe/CPU slots. If you have an older GPU, you probably won't have enough PCIe slots (you'll probably need 2 for your CPU and 2 for your GPU). MSI is/was giving away a cable to convert 1 of those 12V-2x6 slots to 2 PCIe. I believe the promo is still active (https://us.msi.com/Promotion/full...your-build) even though Newegg isn't directly linking to it.

MSI generally makes decent hardware, I've owned motherboards, GPUs, and even laptops from the in the past. However, when it comes to power supplies I won't mess with anything but Seasonic. They cost a little more but they're the best in the business, and the one thing that can screw your build faster than anything (or cause hard to trace issues) is bad power.

This is all true, but it's an A tier PSU on the only list that people should use when deciding to buy a PSU. I would buy this one without hesitation if I needed a PSU.

I checked the promation page and it looks like they extended the promotion to March
I can't seem to find any mention of an extension to March. The "Fully Equipped" page says promotion period was until December 31, 2025 and redemption period is until January 28, 2026.

Login and go into the promotions page. The promotion is still active and has been extended to March. I ordered this Power supply past the Dec 31 25 date and was still able to get the cable.

just out of curiosity, what is the main use of the dual 12v? even the 5090 only uses one correct? is this for sli? (thought that was dead). Is there a way to make use of thise extra 12v if I only need one? (currently using a 5080 with the 3 8pin adaptor way)

I have bought the previous version of this (A1000G) through amazon back in 23, and paid 40 more ($149) back in 8-2023. Its been a great PSU, very quiet, no issues (note I am only running a 4070tiS on it, so its not exactly stressed)

Thanks to this thread I am attempting to get the adapter cable, I just registered and in a week will see if they clear me for the cable.

I don't know who calls this "A tier", but this PSU has crazy coil whine even at idle(!). AI told me to change the "Power Supply Idle Control" setting in BIOS to "Typical Current Idle" to reduce it, but it didn't help. I will be returning this.
