I'm looking at a desktop rebuild in order to reduce my overall power consumption (my PC is running ~12 hours a day)... I still want a high-end gaming PC, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little to maximize efficiency...

I'm looking at a 7800X3D chip since it appears to have the best compromise of performance to power consumption...

I had already bought a RX 9070 XT for the build, but I'm considering to swap it for the RX 9070... I'd lose about ~10% in performance, but the power usage is like ~25% less... I think that would be a worthwhile exchange...

Thanks for posting - I plan to buy my parts at MicroCenter in the next week or so...

You can undervolt the 9070 XT and reduce a good chunk of the power consumption while keeping the same performance.

Disclaimer: Microcenter claims the warranty is 3 years, but Asrock's website says the warranty is only 1 year. 1 year would be the worst warranty length in the entire industry.

This poor warranty period is the main reason I haven't bought one of these.

The 9070 is only different than the 9070 XT in clocks and the number of CUs. I feel you could tweak the performance of the 9070 XT card to have similar idle/mostly-idle power draw while still giving you high performance while gaming.

@slickdeals you guys absolutely need to allow regex exclusions from deal notification setup. For example: I have a "9070" notification set up but don't want them if "micro center" is included anywhere because I ain't even close to them, and they almost never ship these good deals

This. Definitely do this. You can also set up "performance profiles" in Radeon so your GPU can overclock automatically, for example, when you open a game but stay undervolted whenever else

Question slightly on a different topic, is there a way to sort categories by default to "Most Recent Deals" NOT "Best New Deals." Best New Deals is typically the same dozen recycled posts every single day, every single time I browse a new category, I have to manually flip that drop down.

For example in https://slickdeals.net/computer-deals/, "JVSCAM 3-Speed Cordless Rechargeable Air Duster & Blower" seems to have been at the top of the list for...WEEKS. Next post is a 3 week old Microcenter deal, etc. I'd prefer to see new posts by default, not whatever the Skynet decides I should see, thus burying new deals.

I'm curious where you're located at..? I don't have a MicroCenter nearby either, but I'm gonna drive 6 hours each way to shop the MC located in Phoenix (closest to me)... it'll cost me $60 in gas, but that's worth it for the savings I'm gonna get... plus, it'll be a fun day-trip..!

If you visit the page daily I would just recommend bookmarking the page sorted by new

Some folks calculate mileage on their car using the federal standard of 65 cents per mile for fuel and wear and tear. And that does not compensate you for your time. So for some people it would literally cost hundreds or even a thousand dollars to give up a day and drive for 12 hours.

That is crazy to me. I can't imagine driving for 12 hours to save a small amount of money. Maybe it is because I have done a lot of driving in my life but a 12-hour road trip sounds not at all fun to me. I probably wouldn't even drive 2 hours to save $50. Time is the one thing I never seem to have enough of.
