Community Reviews

Callaway Pre owned is a strong source for discounted clubs, especially when like new or very good condition lands close to brand new. The best finds include woods, drivers, irons, and complete sets that arrive still in plastic or original packaging, and the extra discount can make items like the Opus wedge or Elyte driver feel especially worthwhile. Condition is the main tradeoff, since wedges in used or average condition can show heavier wear and some orders have arrived loosely packed. The deal works best when you target higher condition grades and compare prices across the site and eBay storefront.

Buyers shopping for like-new or very-good wedges/woods/irons who want near-new presentation because multiple commenters received clubs still sealed in plastic/wrapper (including complete sets and individual woods) and described the condition as brand new.
mystical80 NutzcommaJack jyap kcustom20
Golfers specifically targeting "like new" drivers/fairway woods/irons who are okay with YMMV on condition labels because commenters reported that "like new" often arrived with plastic wrap and that "very good" irons were like new while at least one "avg" order still came from former demo clubs in like-new condition.
Jinthapa39 NutzcommaJack MCurry01
Callaway fans comparing prices who want a deal even if the advertised 40% doesn't apply to everything because commenters said some items were excellent value and that customer service waived shipping when orders were under $199.
CaptAmerica72 Hefewe1zen
Golfers building a beginner bag who want to outfit themselves with multiple clubs for less than a new Costco set because commenters used the blowout to assemble a full beginner setup (irons, putter, driver, woods/hybrid) for around $550 and expected it to last as they improve.

Golfers shopping for average-condition wedges who want consistent face condition because commenters said wedges are the most beat up at average condition and they've had to send back wedges that arrived too dinged up on the face.
kcustom20 MCurry01
Golfers expecting the full advertised 40% off across the board because commenters noted the discount doesn't apply to everything and some items may not be as good a deal as the headline suggests.
CaptAmerica72
Buyers who are sensitive to heavy wear and messy packing because one commenter said their "good" clubs were heavily played, savings weren't significant, and the order arrived poorly packed with loose wedges/irons and drivers that were only protected by socks.
foxblur
Shoppers who want a clear "cheaper than new" price on complete sets because one commenter said a "like new" complete set price was the same as a new set at Costco.

Callaway Pre-owned can deliver like-new clubs that stay sealed in plastic wrap.
Jinthapa39 mystical80 NutzcommaJack
Like-new condition listings can include original packaging and sales stickers on some clubs.
jyap mtd14
Wedge and wood pricing can be strong when the listing condition matches the expected wear level.
MCurry01 2damax
Customer service can waive shipping fees when an order total stays under $199.
CaptAmerica72

Average-condition wedges can arrive with heavy face dings and may require returns.
kcustom20 MCurry01
Average-condition orders can vary by club type, with drivers and fairway woods showing crown scratches.
kcustom20
Some orders can arrive poorly packed, with loose clubs inside the box.
foxblur
The advertised 40% discount may not apply to every item in the sale.

Common Questions (5)

Callaway Pre-owned clubs are often very solid, and many arrive better than the listed grade. Like-new and even very good items can come sealed in plastic or original packaging, while good/avg can still be playable but vary more by club.
MCurry01 Jinthapa39 mystical80 NutzcommaJack
Wedges show wear faster than other clubs, especially in average condition, and can arrive with heavy face wear or dings that affect performance. Like-new or at least good condition is the safer choice for wedges.
MCurry01 kcustom20 foxblur
No, the 40% discount does not apply to everything in the warehouse sale. Some items are discounted heavily while others are only modestly reduced, so the final price needs to be checked item by item.
CaptAmerica72 foxblur mystical80
Shipping can reportedly be waived if you call customer service on orders under $199. That can make smaller purchases more attractive when the cart total falls just short of the free-shipping threshold.
CaptAmerica72
Yes, some of the same items are also listed on Callaway Pre-owned's eBay storefront, where additional savings may be available. It is worth checking both places before buying.

Callaway preowned is the best. Just got a new set of irons, driver, and wood in like new condition, and they were still in the wrapper sealed.

This model is always at Costco discounted. I just upgraded from those to the Big Bertha set.

Big fan of Callaway Preowned! Just purchased a Elyte Triple Diamond Driver, that was in "good" condition. I would have described it as very good. Impressed per usual by Callaway Preowned!

Using this deal, outfit myself with a "beginner" set for less than the Costco set plus better drivers/hybrid.
Got the Edge graphite iron set (6-9, PW,SW), Odyssey putter with Super Stroke grip, plus Big Bertha driver, BB 3 wood and BB 5 hybrid for roughly $550. Should be able to grow a while with these.

Not everybody has a Costco, plus you have the option to save even more with various conditions.

What would something in average condition look like? Pretty beat up?

No, even the average wedges would be very playable and decent looking
