Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but the techgearlab review was for the XR model, this is the XR Pet. The XR Pet does have a stronger motor 300w vs 200w for the XR.

It's finicky. As is the case with my very old Dysons, when the suction gets "obstructed" it shuts off. So when I use it on our gym tiles which are rubbery, it creates too much of a vacuum seal and turns off. To use it you need to put it on a lower suction setting. Not a huge deal but I was hoping to just be able to pick it up and use it. The other thing I don't love is that you have to remove the battery to charge it. You can't dock it to charge. You can hang it from the wall mount with the battery attached but if you want to charge it you need to manually remove the battery and place it on the charger then hang the vacuum separately. Not ideal for those who want this to be a quick solution for easy cleanup.
