If looking to add a GPU, the highest wattage PSU you can put in this is a 500W L05757-800. About $50 on eBay for a generic, $100 for OEM. Two fan GPUs should fit - was able to install an Arc A750 in this case and run off the aforementioned power supply. Also, this unit does support Resizable BAR.

That intel storage driver which cant be disabled is a PAIN if you anything besides Win11. MS server and VMware being impossible for me. Even F6 drivers or loan in iso for esx i get nowhere.!

I have this for my server and performed the following upgrades:
Upgraded to this PSU for $100 on eBay
HP Z2 G4 Minitower 650W Power Supply DPS-650AB-30A L36049-003 L57253-003
(Just needs a 4 pin CPU extension cable)
The gigabyte dual fan or pny dual fan 5060ti 16gb fit with
Two 3.5" 18tb drives
32 GB RAM, but it isn't the right timing and it can't be adjusted so it's stuck at 2400 rather than 3200.
2.5gb Ethernet adapter
Additional exhaust fan installed in the slot on the side
Linux Mint running no problem.

I've seen this as cheap as $215 refurbished but it's a good deal imo.

Doesn't the 9700K suck a lot of juice?
It's 30w higher than the current 6700 has but the 6700 has a discreet gc which I plan on the 9700k not having. I wonder what kind of underclocking i can perform on the 9700k.

Either way, the cost increase on electricity on the 9700 will be cheaper than building an i3 with 16GB of RAM.

If you have a Ryzen CPU, you can sort the ram speed using Ryzenmaster. I bought some Corsair Vengence Ram that was stuck at 2133, with no way to enable XMP in the bois to take it upto 3200. I installed Ryzenmaster, changed the speed and fabric speed, tested and then uninstalled Ryzenmaster. It still runs at 3200 to this day, even with different OS's etc. If you do the same, just be aware you need to set the speed to 1600, not 3200 in RM.

That's a good idea for the Ryzen variant of this when it goes on sale! (I see it frequently too). I specifically wanted the Intel for the Plex transcoding with QuickSync but for people buying it for games or regular use, the Ryzen would work just as well.

I need a desktop to Remote into a Citrix VDI (Virtual Desktop) and wouldn't need lots of storage and thing personally as my existing desktop is dying......need to support basic stuff like dual monitors (They are old and arent USBC or HDMI but have convertors)......

What are my options? Is this good enough?

My M01 has both VGA and HDMI on the back so you can do multiple monitors, although VGA is a legacy connection these days.

for only $450 that's a pretty solid gaming desktop. The arc a750 is equivalent to about a 3060
Is this cpu a good match for a Radeon 6650 xt? Video card is being used with an old ryzen 7 2700x. Looks like this cpu is 40% faster. 500 watts should be enough.

This is a home/office PC and unlike years-gone-by, not-readily upgraded into a Workstation or Game box.

HP Pavilion desktops do not fully-adhere to ATX specifications, and the chassis lacks ventilation for high-TGP GPUs.

If someone in the family is used to a desktop PC and desperately needs an upgrade, this ain't bad.
If you're looking for something cheap to upgrade into a budget game/work build, look elsewhere.

This is a great deal for it's intended purpose, the same seller has a i5-13400 variant with a 400 watt psu for $20 more. I don't know that you will find better computer (s)that have possibilities of gaming on a budget for less.

Two mismatched capacity RAM sticks... wonder how that affects memory speed or if it even runs at quad data rate

No dual-channel mode for sure.

I have one of these and it's a bit noisy for what you need and big. Personally I would recommend you look at an HP business mini PC these are small and silent and come with two display ports with a flex port that lets you put put in a USBC with displayport capability
