Worth noting: this is not a GFCI outlet. Almost every suggested application for the outlet should really be used on a GFCI. I'd be hesitant to install this in a kitchen or bathroom, where the added functionality would be most useful.

The buttons that make it look like a GFCI are actually manual on and off switches.

can you clarify what would be useful for a remote control outlet in a kitchen or bathroom? (not challenging you i just can't piece it together)i thought about using it for the outlet a christmas tree or other indoor halloween decorations. perhaps xmas lights in a window. maybe a lamp. i have lutron plug in boxes to integrate lamps into smart light switches but i dont know what i would remote control in my kitchen or bathroom.

Safety concerns are debatable and building code issues are variable.

I mostly just thought that it was worth noting, due to the decision to make it look like a GFCI outlet. There's plenty of uses for it, and reasons to buy it. Just doesn't hurt to be an informed buyer.
