Various Retailers have Chatter: The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters, and How to Harness It (eBook) by Ethan Kross on sale for $1.99.

Thanks to Deal Hunter phoinix for sharing this deal.

Available from:Details:
  • In Chatter, acclaimed psychologist Ethan Kross explores the silent conversations we have with ourselves. Interweaving groundbreaking behavioral and brain research from his own lab with real-world case studies—from a pitcher who forgets how to pitch, to a Harvard undergrad negotiating her double life as a spy—Kross explains how these conversations shape our lives, work, and relationships. He warns that giving in to negative and disorienting self-talk—what he calls "chatter"—can tank our health, sink our moods, strain our social connections, and cause us to fold under pressure.

Actual conversation with other people:

*Me, talking to myself.

Other(s): "Are you talking to yourself?"

Me: "Yes."

Other(s): "Do you answer yourself back?"

Me: "Why yes, I do. Why? Because nobody else will listen. Occasionally, I even argue with myself, but somehow, I STILL end up losing the argument!"

His second book, Shift is better, and includes the relevant concepts from Chatter. That said, Shift wouldn't have happened without Chatter.
