24L is fine for a day hike, but get the 34L if you might need it for an overnight hike.

This is a great day pack, and while this is random feedback, it's exactly the right size for the Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu (needs to be under 25L at the site).

Hey OP just want to let you know that is not enforced. I entered with a 33L and I saw folks with a 65L.

I was there last May, they had people checking in large bags, esp for route 1. I wouldn't say it's NOT enforced, more like it depends on who is manning the gates.

@berickso ymmv, I went in with a 20L.

I wonder if I could get a 34L as a personal item. The rigid frames kill it mostly.
