I just not seeing a lot of positivity around this specific model.

Weird middle where qm6k will work for most people. Then people that want to drop this money on TV okay to spend a little more for qm8k / OLED.

$800 would be slick and I would be on the way.
$1050 still seems too high. Tcl MSRPs are bologna now.

I have the 75" QM8K. Best TV I've ever owned by far, and that's amongst multiple LG OLED TVs I have as well.

That is awesome! I appreciate insight.

I've been eyeing some LG OLEDs but worry about Brightness and b$#n in. I know probably not a problem now , but we play games and watch tv for hours at my house

I watch TV 12 hours a day maybe more. But I ended up getting black out curtains. I can't tell if it's day or night outside with them. I added some seals for the edges so no light bleeds in. But yea that pretty much solved all my problems with glare

Hmm what if someone comes over and notices it is not an OLED?

How is it better than an OLED? Did you own older ones? I've seen this TV and even the QM8K in person, and I'd still take a C5 or G5 over it. Dimming zones just suck too much on anything that isn't super bright scenes.

The specular highlights of my 75" QM8K blew me away. Because the TV is so bright, you can turn the Gamma down from 2.2 to 2.4 or even 2.6, and the blacks is so close to OLED, which is another plus. You don't have to worry about burn-ins if you're a gamer like those in my family, or watching any other content that can burn with OLEDs. My 2018 C8 finally got burn-in from gaming last year after 6 years, so I'm not complaining. The C5's specular highlights will still disappoint you once you see this TV. The G5's SH is comparable, but that TV is $3,500 for the 77", while my QM8K was $1,500. Best of luck to you. I'm sure whichever TV you end up with will still be great for you!

They're actually pretty good. Saw one at Bestbuy when I dragged my wife with me so we could check the s90 and c4 in person for me to make a decision. She was looking at the other TVs and my wife thought the TCL was another OLED until I pointed out the minor blooming around the football players jersey on the promo videos they loop. It's amazing for not being OLED.

Agree on msrp... this seems about a fair price rather than a slick deal for this TV based on what you can get a 77" oled for these days (which if you're willing to pay extra for image quality is still the top dog in most cases). However I disagree on the weird middle comment. I think it depends on the size and what is "enough" image quality for you. Mainly SDR content? Sure, don't bother going above Qm6k (or even qm5k for that matter). If you watch a lot of HDR this is absolutely a massive step up in visual impact from the Qm6k (I've had both). If the price delta is small I'd say it's worth it. Qm8k is obviously the better model, but unless you're in a bright room, those levels of brightness are honestly too much. Even the Qm7k in my basement hurts my eyes a bit with certain larger HDR highlights and I could not imagine wanting a brighter TV down there. Upstairs in my giant-windowed living room is a different story, of course. I'd say if the price only 10-15% higher, it's generally worth the next model up for mixed users. But anything closer to those MSRPs or 20-25% delta from the lower model and you'll have overpaid IMO.

I've been monitoring the Qm6k and waiting to see if the Black Friday deal of $698 comes back. Then saw this. Anyone have any opinions/suggestions? Overall, looking for a higher-end budget TV and all the reviews I've been reading was pointing me to the QM6K. Not a big Samsung fan cause of Tizen and their lack of number buttons on their newer remotes. My current Samsung (and what I am replacing) remote works maybe 1/2 the time.
