I have the 75" QM8K. Best TV I've ever owned by far, and that's amongst multiple LG OLED TVs I have as well.

How is it better than an OLED? Did you own older ones? I've seen this TV and even the QM8K in person, and I'd still take a C5 or G5 over it. Dimming zones just suck too much on anything that isn't super bright scenes.

Hisense U7 is also $999...which is very comparable Tv to the one in this threadhttps://www.bestbuy.com/product/h...J3Z9Z42Y4V
I have the TV and it sucks. Dolby Vision crashes, won't recognize my soundbar unless I reboot the TV, and the OS is terrible. I have called their support numerous times and get no where.

I picked up the 85 inch QM8K for $1600 and I'm really happy with it. I have it in a fairly bright room that there's no way to properly darken and it's been great. Obviously not an OLED, but it's pretty awesome. I assume my next TV will be OLED, but this will keep me happy for a few years.

I have the 55" QM7K (which was a steal when I got an Amazon "open box" for $400 in November). I compared it side by side with my 77" LG OLED (from 5 years ago), and the PQ is very close. Mini-LED is far brighter than my older OLED, which makes the black level less impressive on the OLED due to the lower contrast. So much so that when it comes time to upgrading the OLED, I will likely go with a high-end TCL as you can buy a much bigger TV for the same price, such as the 98" mini-LED currently available.

I just not seeing a lot of positivity around this specific model.

Weird middle where qm6k will work for most people. Then people that want to drop this money on TV okay to spend a little more for qm8k / OLED.

$800 would be slick and I would be on the way.
$1050 still seems too high. Tcl MSRPs are bologna now.
I got last years model at just below 1k, 9 something. Went over 1k with warranty and free delivery (it's heavy so this is almost a must depending on the situation). It's a fantastic TV and no regrets. It's nice when the biggest problem I have with the thing is that it can get too bright so I have to bring it down depending on the time of day. A good problem to have indeed! The sound was the biggest surprise to me. I have external higher quality options, but I honestly you can barely tell the difference between the 2.

Dolby Vision crashes..or an app crashes?

I have a U8H..65" and a 55" U8N and have no such issues

But I used separate Apple Tv and Rokus because I like their operation and really dont use the internal apps of the TV

How does this compare to the Sony Bravia 7 75"?

Stop comparing TCL with branded TV. Even if you found TCL tv that has high ratings on rtings, the lifespan is less than expected. I bought two TCLs with 7.7+ rtings review, and both of them did not last 2 years. I bought Sony X90 from Costco since 2020 and it's still kicking sharp image even when my kids were playing Baby Shark 24/7. Just my2c

I purchased one of these during BF. I am plenty happy with the 4K content but the low res streams look much worse than the 15 year old Sony LED it was using previously. This TCL has very poor upscaling, unlike the Sony. If I was smart, I would have loaded a low res movie onto a USB and plugged it into the TV in the showroom.

Can you talk about the Google TV experience. I heard nothing but bad things about tizen and webos. Can you compare the qm8k to the LG C5? I'm considering the C5 but this price for the TCL can't be ignored

Hmm what if someone comes over and notices it is not an OLED?
That would be embarrassing!
