It certainly isn't a heavily weighted game, but we enjoy this game quite a bit at our house (I would rate it more in the 7's personally). Well worth $9!
I thought it was fairly easy to learn. There's only a few spells from each to learn and to strategize from. There's also a slight element of luck as with any boardgame.

i feel that some simple rule games make for plenty of skill space while some complex games leave little skill space. more rules is generally less fun though.
