Would this be any good to use as a digital picture frame?

I'm still debating over this TV. I want a mini-led and only need 120hz 1440p for gaming. But I loathe GoogleTV. I returned a Hisense U65QF because of HDMI issues and constantly changing the brightness of it (too bright at night). What to do.
I own 2. DO IT. These hang right with my QM7's in SDR. Best value on the market right now. NO issues yet and we got a firmware update recently that made them even better (v490 I think?).

It's pretty loud. I have the 55" mounted on the wall in my bedroom and dont turn the volume up above 13 or so (out of 100.) At 13, my better half complains that its too loud.

The brightness is kind of the same way. The higher end TCLs (QM7K/8K/9K) are considerably brighter than this TV. On my QM5Ks, I have the brightness turned down to like 40% (these TVs are like 2-3x brighter than the 5 yr old cheap edge-lit TVs they replaced.) On certain content, it causes my eyes to wince so I'm not sure how folks deal with an even brighter tv. I'm sure it makes HDR content better, but IMO, it looks great on my QM5K (but I'm not super enthusiast.)
Agreed. I have brightness on 30 in dark room. That equals 20 on my QM7 so they aren't that much dimmer. Of course they can't keep up in HDR but I don't watch much HDR.

Yes. And they have a FANTASTIC screen saved built in. It can have news and weather overlays and even read you the headlines OR It can show your art from tv storage, art from USB, art from Google, AI created art, or you can use AI on the tv to create art. Sometimes the AI is laughable but other times it's really good. All free, may as well use it.

How big of an upgrade would this be from my sharp 60" from 2016 lol
Massive. I came from a 55" 4K HDR LED Sharp from 2018 with no local dimming. The Sharp cost MORE in 2018 than the TCL does now and the TCL is so much better.

TVs seems to be one of the few things in a deflationary pattern. My 50" and 55" QM5Ks (paid. $285-300) are not only significantly cheaper than the basic edge-lit 4k TVs I bought in 2020 (before you even consider inflation and tariffs) but are significantly better. It makes me wonder that if unless youre an enthusiast, it may be better just replacing a cheap TV every 5 years with another cheap TV over trying to future proof (and potentially spending a ton.) It seems like whatever cheap TV exists 5 yrs from now will likely blow away what is available now anyhow.

Now I just need to do some soul searching on the 85 or 98 TCL options. lol

RTings did an extended test [rtings.com]of all their tvs. TCL seemed to fair well.

For $100 difference, the Costco option is probably worth it. Free delivery. Longer warranty. 4K at 144hz capability (assuming you game.)

Buy this and put an Apple TV on it. (Or Roku or whatever). Put the Apple TV experience, especially if you are already in the ecosystem is 1 million times better than Google TV.

I realize this does 120hz 1440p on consoles but will it do it on a PC?
