I'm a huge skeptic and I don't believe in "homeopathic" medicine. I trust science and clinical data, and I have done a lot of reading on DHM over the last 11 years. The science is there and its promising. I still can't rule out placebo effect of course but over the last 11 years it has worked for me; I never drink without it.
That said, DHM also sobers you up. So if your intention is to get a bit inebriated, DHM will actually make that more difficult. There are a couple other ingredients worth looking at if your intention is reduce hangover symptoms. The old and trusted one is Milk Thistle. There is some research suggesting it improves liver function, and has been used for many years for this. Speaking from personal experience, I do find that it reduces hangover symptoms a bit, but not as much as DHM.
The other ingredient that is showing a lot of promise in more recent research is n-acetylcysteine (NAC). This supposedly helps break down acetaldehyde, which is a byproduct of alcohol digestion, and a likely culprit of what makes hangovers particularly unpleasant. Research on NAC is more recent than DHM or Milk Thistle, but its promising.
You will find all 3 ingredients, DHM, Milk Thistle, and NAC in many "hangover cure" medications on the internet. But sometimes the exact amount of each is obscured, and you really don't know if you're getting an effective dose. I suggest just buying these all individually and doing your own "blending" as you drink and find what works for you.
I can confirm this stuff works. I've been taking it since 2014.

But don't write out NAC. Between DHM and NAC, you get a one-two combo of effectiveness. Taking NAC while drinking helps your body break down acetaldehyde, which no amount of hydrating can do on its own. So for a shot at a truly hangover free morning, you'll want both.
