I always thought I would own (multiple) of these, but given what good ones cost, somehow I've made do my whole life with condiment bottles and wash bottles. Just don't leave them in the sun, and don't let the wash bottles build up pressure from temperature swings.

(Good ones meter the oil for expensive things I don't own that need metered doses of oil.)

1/4 pint makes it less appealing. That's ~5oz. Do a little visualization: a soda can is 12oz. and this will hold between 1/2 and 1/3 of that.

Yeah, it's tempting, but the low capacity means you might be refilling it multiple times, and that's more chances to spill that delicious gear oil on everything

I own one that holds 16 ounces. And I bought it to hold diesel fuel. And I use the diesel fuel to accelerate the start up of the woodstove fire. And I would say it did the job, but after about 15 years, I decided to try a generic spray bottle I picked up at Lowe's. That works much better. I would appreciate some criticism.
