yes, but most deals under $10 have been for the 5-6 ft cord, Don't recall the 10 foot for $9.99, good price for that much extension, gives a lot more options where to place it.

These seem very appealing but I don't understand how 12 outlets can work. Surely if you plug in 8 mains devices and 4 USB powered devices at the same time, something will trip or worse, catch fire.

I have one of these and they work pretty well. You're not plugging in 12 outlets that each draw a lot of load. But you can certainly plug in 8 laptops (assuming 100w or less each) and it won't overload it, but not 12 desktops.

Thanks for the info. It'd be nice if they had some kind of trivial "Capacity: (0..max)" display on these things so you knew how close you were to maxing it out and tripping a breaker but I suppose there are too many variables in the wiring for it to know.

I have other Super Danny surge suppressors and they have been solid for years. 0 issues.

are these reliable? or will we have to worry about potential fire risk?

I mean they literally do...
"1250W overload protection [...] 10A over-current protection"

so a bunch of 65w laptops, but don't put a single 1500w space heater on it on high.

edit: or did you mean like a digital display of how much wattage you're pulling? High end power strips can in fact do that but not for $10.
