My kids have a couple fire tablets and they get ads galore. Would this be a little better in that regard of being able to control ads? And sideloading play store and getting apps to work right on the fire tablet isn't the greatest either.

This has no ads or even bloatware on it. I have the 7,8 and 10.1 versions and all have been excellent for the price I paid (open box of course)
Check out some YouTube reviews, imo they are excellent for basic tablet needs, even as an e-reader

This should be night and day compared to Amazon fire, the bloat on the fire is so bad that it's just not worth having it any longer, can barely do anything, the onn is basically no bloatware and everything on play store just works, I got the 11" one but this should be pretty good

There's no future proof on this thing. It's basically dead on arrival. E-reader.. sure. It's great. 4gb ram is minimum. 8gb ram is at least good for anything now as the standard. Just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt
