Panasonic Eneloop AAA rechargeables stand out for long life and steady performance in everyday devices. The batteries are described as holding up for years, keeping charge well over time, and doing especially well in kids toys and other slow drain gear. They also arrive only partially charged, so a top off may be needed before use. A shipping restriction appears for some addresses, and the listing is for AAA batteries, not the AA version in the comparison.

  • People who want rechargeable batteries that can hold charge for years, because these have been reported to stay usable after a decade.

  • People replacing disposable AAA cells in everyday gadgets, because these have been reported to last for years before needing replacement.

  • People powering kids' toys, because these batteries can last longer than expected in high-use play devices.

  • People stocking slow-drain devices like mice and keyboards, because NiMH voltage stays in a usable range as it discharges.

  • People who need batteries ready to use straight out of the package, because they may arrive partially charged and need an initial charge first.

  • People relying on a low-battery warning to stay accurate, because NiMH voltage can trigger the warning sooner as the cells discharge.

  • People whose rechargeable cells have already worn out, because these can eventually stop holding charge and only power a device for a day.

Eneloops are the best in terms of longevity. I have a pair that I've been using for years, while my friends keep having to buy new energizer rechargeables.

Ordered these earlier this week for a few dollars more. I've got an 8 pack of AA that I've had at least 10 years. They really do hold up. Just FYI they aren't fully charged when they come. I put them on my Panasonic charger which has a display indicating battery level. They all charged for more than an hour.

Will they power common IoT devices, mice, keyboards, etc., w/o an issue? I vaguely recall something that their voltage often falls a tad short of what is required by the device.

So got them last time the deal was around. Have to say they have been doing great in the kids toys. Lasting longer than I expected.

All NiMH rechargeable (regardless of brand) runs from 1.4 to 1.2V (as they discharge). This is usually not a problem for slow drain devices like mice/keyboards. You may get a 'low battery' warning sooner though.

I've heard pretty good things about EBL rechargeables. Wirecutter rated them best.
