Do these smell as bad as the stall mats? I remember I helped my friend years ago get the horse stall mats and it took like 3 months before they calmed down

I bet they're basically the same thing. The specs all look to be 1:1 with the horse stall mats so id imagine the experience would be the same

At my store they were stored outside, so they were already pretty well off gassed.

We bought one during a sale & it was in our garage for a month or so before hubby could find the time cut it, but we have zero smell. The mat was stored in front of the store before we bought it, so I assume that helped with off-gassing. There was no odor when it was in the garage before we put it in the basement.

We bought this style vs the regular stall mats with a flat bottom is because the raised bumps allow for air circulation under the mat, especially in a humid or damp environment, like a basement. I saw many pics from people with moldy mats that were smooth, so we opted for this style & have the raised side on the floor. The mat is not easy to cut, but is definitely sturdy.

Ours sat in our garage for a month before we had the time to cut it, but there was no smell when it was in the garage either. The mat was displayed outside at our local TS, so that probably helped with off-gassing.

My local Costco had the "mega mat" 36x48 tire rubber mats on sale for $15 a piece in store last week. May be worth checking out.

Yes, bought these for a gym. Aired them out in sunlight for a day, scrubbed them with soap, and it helped a lot.

you can often find them used around here but if so most likely they were used IN A STALL. ;-)

As an aside I redid our horse stalls with full 12x12 rolled mats which might be nice for a garage gym as well

I have the flat style stall mats from tractor supply. Looks like the only difference is the bumps at the bottom which would be better for air circulation. Assuming that's the only difference, these are fantastic for home gym. Very heavy duty, absorb sound and impacts well. Be warned they are heavy. 96lbs each. If you're buying a bunch, make sure you have a truck or large suv or rent their trailer. For moving them into the house what worked best for me was rolling them and securing with a ratchet strap so I could get it through the door and down the stairs.

These look annoying honestly. I have the anti fatigue mat from Home Depot where there are holes instead and they your hurt your barefeet if you stand in one spot for too long. The ridges dig into your feet.

I imagine these are just as bad as they start digging into your feet too.
