Is this resort credit a real thing or a trap into a timeshare pitch?

Is that something I need to worry about when planning a trip? When I won a trip for work they had a 'meeting' that I lol'ed at and said I wasn't going to. But I think they bribed the leader of our group and he talked us into going to one. (He was very against going to a timeshare meeting then was suddenly wanting all us to go)

I can't speak for this specific brand regarding the timeshare pitch, but, I suspect the leader was told "we either have the pitch, or you're paying for all the stays" which is why they went from "yeah, nah" to "team building event in the big conference room! Free Pizza!"

IMO, it would be pretty sleazy to offer a resort credit and have it tied to a timeshare pitch unless it was spelled out in the T&C.

No, it was a benifit of the job, they paid very low wages then had a raffle ticket drawing at the end of a quarter for prizes and a trip. 4 employees and 1 manager won. The manager was the leader, it was paid for by the company. If anyone thinks this is awsome, it isn't. Getting paid well enough to take trips is awsome.
