This Centon 2.5 inch SATA III SSD is mainly appealing as a cheap game or laptop storage upgrade, with the 1TB version priced at $48 and the brand having old OEM roots. The strongest upside is the low cost for a standard SATA drive, and the 2TB version has already shown up for some orders with a 3 year warranty. The main drawback is fulfillment uncertainty, since confirmations have shown March or two month estimates, charges can post before shipping, and some orders have been canceled or delayed. A practical budget pick if the wait does not matter.

2 month delivery window is insane. Hard drives are not wait 2 months expensive. -_-
Think of it like a nice surprise when they show up. By the end of March you might be seeing 1TB SSDs for $200 and then this guy shows up at your door.

There's some people complaining about reliability issues on the Amazon entry for this. This is apparently bottom of the barrel. I'd like to replace the 128gb in my old laptop but meh, I'll wait.

The reviews on Office Depot are from people who regularly huff paint thinner, apparently.

Yeah unless you really need it, that price is absurd. I can wait as long as needed until prices go down. My desktop has 2x 4TB and my NAS has 2x 4TB + 28TB HDD Raid Z1. Think I'll be fine with the limited space on my 2008 laptop lol.

Agreed. I was hesitating but ultimately pulled the trigger on a WD SN5000 2TB NVME for $109 in early October. $55/tb for NVMe is my goal price.

Came here to say it but OP said it already. But I'm sure this will be perfectly fine for non-critical data
I wouldn't use any SSD for critical data. Mechanical all the way for things that matter.

The OD Centon 2TB from 2 weeks ago still hasn't shipped even though charged credit card fully immediately, has an ETA of 2 months out. Don't hold out hope.
I received it already. Order confirmation had ETA of 2 months out but then got order had shipped in a couple of days and then FedEx delivered in 2-3 days

My NVME from 2016 is still running strong. There are a couple makes that have incredible resilience, moreso than HDDS. Yeah you buy the Chinesium drives and they fail a lot (like this drive).
The only reason you'd choose HDDs over SSDs is cost. Quality SSDs will always outlive and out-perform HDDs. But SSDs are 5-10x the price. A good Raid Z1 or Z2 is enough data redundancy (plus an extra backup drive)
