I just ordered this tv through costco.com yesterday. Allstate says protection ends 2031 (5 years).

According to Costco reps and store signage the 3 years of Allstate warranty starts after the 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Do you think this is a worthy upgrade from my Sony 85 x9500H? (2020 model)? Did a brief lookup, and it seems to be much brighter. Not sure how it compares to upscaling/processing abilities.

i'm sure it's a good price, but I had a different model of TCL about 4 years ago, a 75", it took on a update, and was all messed up. warranty put new components in side, still didn't fix, I was lucky I bought from bestbuy, I was able to trade for a Hisense. Hadn't had any problem out of the Hisense.

That's a lot of screen real estate for the money. I just bought the TCL 85" QM6K for $999 less 10% rewards for using my Prime Visa ($900 net). I considered packing it up and returning it to Amazon, and buying this Costco TV instead and saving $220 while getting the great Costco warranty. Ultimately, I'm keeping the QM6K, but both are about as good as it gets at their price points.

Google Gemini helped in my devision:

"While they may look similar on the shelf at Costco, the TCL 85" QM6K and the Costco TCL 85Q77K are different TVs with significantly different backlight technologies.
The Main Difference: Mini-LED
TCL 85" QM6K: This is a Mini-LED TV. It uses thousands of tiny LEDs to provide much better brightness control and deeper blacks.
TCL 85Q77K: This is a standard QLED (Direct LED) TV. It does not have Mini-LED technology. It uses larger, traditional LEDs for its backlight.
TCL 85" QM6K (The Higher-End Model)
The QM6K is part of TCL's 2024/2025 "M" (Mini-LED) class. It is designed for a more premium HDR experience.
Backlight: QD-Mini LED with Full Array Local Dimming (up to 500+ zones).
Contrast: Because it uses Mini-LEDs, it can get much darker in black areas of the screen without "bleeding" light into bright areas.
Brightness: Typically reaches higher peak brightness, making it better for bright rooms (like those in Arizona).
Gaming: Supports up to a 144Hz VRR refresh rate.
TCL 85Q77K (The Costco Value Model)
The Q77K is often cited as a Costco-specific variant that effectively replaces the older Q7 or Q6 models. It is a very good "mid-range" TV but lacks the precision of the QM6K.
Backlight: Standard Direct LED (Full Array). While it has local dimming, the LEDs are much larger than Mini-LEDs, which can lead to some "blooming" (halos around bright objects).
Performance: Reviewers often note that while it looks great for the price, its black levels aren't as "inky" as the QM6K.
Value: It is almost always cheaper than the QM6K and usually comes with Costco's extended 5-year warranty bundle.
Summary: Which should you choose?
If you want the best possible picture quality for movies and high-end gaming, the QM6K is the clear winner because of the Mini-LED technology. If you are looking for the best "bang for your buck" on a massive 85-inch screen and aren't as concerned about perfect black levels, the Q77K is a solid value choice."

Crazy good deal if you are cheap and don't care about quality.

Thanks. Was considering the qm6pro and this one. But still thinking of the gm6pro. Hope to see it drop in price again.

The warranty is the best thing about buying at Costco. Best Buy adds on $59-$69+ to the price for the Geek Squad 5 year warranty. The savings basically pay for standard Costco membership. Plus, easy and extended return time is nice, too.

The 85Q77K has a matte screen (the smaller ones don't). This review is why I made the purchase:https://www.reddit.com/r/tcltvs/c...i8/85q77k/
Wow, you bought this based on old and paid review? See this for yourself: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/q77k
5.7 rating is a red flag.
But if you're on a budget, you wont find 85" tv at this price except on BF. I personally won't host superbowl party with this TV.

TV is ok. I had the 75 version and returned it. spent the extra money on the mini-led version QM6K Pro and couldn't be happier. For a bed room TV, I think the q77k would be fine.

You don't need a warranty on LED tvs. Nothing will break most likely. That's why Costco is giving it away like candy. They use it as a selling point.

It seems this television has low ratings; you might want to consider ignoring it
