Are you sure you're using a proper high speed data cable and not just one for charging / basic usb? That would explain the ~480MB/s max..
Just tested mine with with my MBP and a random TB4 cable and had no issues writing to it at 1GB/s.

This Sabrent USB C NVMe enclosure stands out for fast, toolless SSD swaps and a sturdy aluminum body with a larger heatsink than some rivals. With the included short cable or another proper 10 gigabit per second data cable, it can reach around 1 gigabyte per second reads and writes. Firmware updates for the Realtek RTL9210 chipset are important for stability and better drive support. The main catch is cable sensitivity, since basic or charging cables can drop speeds sharply, and the second thermal pad placement is unclear.
Users who want sustained 10Gbps transfers, because it reaches about 1GB/s when paired with a proper high-speed USB-C data cable.
Owners who like to tune firmware, because updating the chipset firmware can fix stability issues and improve drive support.
Laptop repairers pulling data from dead NVMe drives, because the toolless design makes drive swaps quick for retrieval and backup.
People expecting full speed from any USB-C cable, because charging cables or low-spec leads can cap transfers around 300-480MB/s.
Buyers who want a simple enclosure with no setup, because the chipset may need firmware updates and cable matching to avoid performance issues.
Linux users who need plug-and-forget stability, because the enclosure can randomly freeze until the firmware is updated.

Basically if gonna have other branded usb c cables (at home, spare, Apple, green, insignia, etc) connected to this enclosure, it would not deliver the expected read and write speed. 300-480 megabytes per seconds.
Maybe...just maybe I'm an outlier here as I got a faulty one but I doubt it as other reviewers had shared the same thing that I went thru

Please share any designated usb c cable appropriately for this enclosure. I do want to rebuy this…not at a TB4 price point from Apple
