In this case Amazon posted list price 12.99

But I've known them to actively seek out higher prices lol

Feels so sketchy when it's this cheap, the internals can't be good

Seems like a nice little power strip, but I would not (!) rely on this for surge protection.

First, per the product page discussion, the L-N clamping voltage is 775V, which is much too slow to protect attached devices from getting potentially lethal surges. Typically you want to see 400V or less (330V is the quickest/lowest UL-certified clamping voltage).

Second, per the product description, this has 1080J of surge protection, which measures the expected life of the surge protection feature in terms of accumulated surges. 1080 is woefully low, you'd normally expected something described by the manufacturer as "surge protection" to provide at least 3,000J and hopefully 4,000+ in consumer-level products.

Surge protection aside, the unit has ETL certification, which is functionally equivalent to UL certification, so if I were looking for a power strip, with a fairly short cord (5 feet), I'd definitely consider this little guy for only $10. The combo of 8 outlets plus 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports is really nice in such a compact unit. Note you won't get superfast charging on the ports, looks like around 15W max combined across the 4, so no more than 15W even if you use just one USB-C port, less if you're using USB-A or more than one port in any combination.
