Scotch packing tapes are junk. Extremely thin, you will constantly struggle to lift the tape from the role without ripping the tape.

May be this tape is different as there are lots of positive reviews.

Yep. The Scotch Heavy Duty tape from Costco comes in an 8-pack and is thicker, easier to work with, and more secure. If you do a lot of shipping, it's definitely worth it. Costco puts it on sale a few times every year, and we usually stock up when it does. We've never found better packing tape.
