FWIW, we got the 11x14 for my in-laws to commemorate a trip we took to Scotland with them. They opened it on Christmas morning and were all "Oh, look, a book on Scotland* [Underwhelmed Present-Face smile]" We had to make them open it and flip through to see that it was *their* trip that was in the book, at which point they were absolutely thrilled. It took a good 4-5 hours to put together (including some custom graphics) but the product results was really impressive. We've done smaller - 8x10 I think - in the past, and the larger size really makes the book feel more like a professional coffee-table volume.
*I take this as a relative compliment to my cover photo, which could have been on a generic tourist book to Stirling.

I did a careful screenshot of each 2-page spread and saved each as a numbered JPG (or preferred format) in Paint in a separate folder. So, I had over 50 images.
In Microsoft Word, I started a blank document as narrow margin landscape.
'Insert Pictures' from This device - Pointed it to the folder, highlighted all the images in the folder (I numbered them in order), clicked Insert.

Yes, it took some time.
Shutterfly has a method of sharing the project and it works well, but some people are not savvy with the process, so, in order to encourage friends and family to order a book, this helps - they can see what a wonderful tool Shutterfly employs to make treasured books to last a lifetime.
I order multiple books each year for family and friends. The appreciation is huge.
Also, since I like to use the same format for certain events, when I've created a book, I'll save an additional copy with a name such as 8x11 Template and choose to remove all of the photos - leaving a relatively blank slate to speed up the process next time.
