Not a great fan of these due to lacking future upgrade options. On the other hand, with the crazy prices at the moment, this is a really cheap way into a DDR5 based system. If you can somehow get another stick of ram to get upto 16gb, it might be a good office machine for a few years. Not a good option for a gaming machine though.

To get something that is more upgradeable but that is DDR5 and has a i3-14100... you are looking closer to $800+ brand-new. You may find some deals here and there... but the cpu is nearly $200 brand new.

Overall, this is a really good deal and something people should consider if they want an office PC. I definitely think this is better than those chinese miniPCs. For one, the driver-support with these devices can be minimal and that creates a bunch of issues if you are installing linux or reinstalling windows. Secondly, these companies occationally include software that sends telemetry data (although... windows 11 does that by default also). So I would never use one of those products without wiping everything completely.

Now.... HP build quality is meh. But again, it would be cheaper to buy this again ---if it broke--- then buying a comparable lenova product or something else. And you could actually make this a casual-gaming machine by adding a graphic card and another stick of RAM (It would probably more than double the price... but it's not like the machine would suck.).

Where do you find 175 new damaged box PCs? Lousy forklift drivers at HP? Probably flood/water damaged.

It's quite a stretch to suggest that these are water damaged. Seriously?

Free returns including return freight so zero risk to the buyer.

The reason I said water damaged, is how do you damage 175 PCs, drive over them?

I have no reason to, and it serves no purpose to, make wild speculations about the history of open box merchandise. As long as it's disclosed up front and the price is right, it's everyone's own personal decision as to whether they want to go for it. Could be any of the following:

Clearance
Closeout
Overstock
Discontinued
Repackaged
New Return
Damaged Box

As long as I get a working undamaged new PC it's pointless to ask a bunch of questions no one can answer. If I don't get a working undamaged new PC I simply return it for 100% of what I spent refunded to me. With an original MSRP of $499, this is way less than half and arguably the best deal currently possible on a 14th gen DDR5 profile desktop. I'll remind you that it went Frontpage the last time posted at this price.

Wow, front page. I bet you're very proud of yourself.
The Frontpage status has nothing to do with me. It's a reflection of the community's collective opinion of the quality of the deal. Getting snarky with me is not very productive; wouldn't you agree?

VIPOUTLET seems to be selling the same item through walmart.com for a few dollars less if you prefer to buy from them instead of ebay.

Not bad at all, BUT the 8GB RAM kills it, and the chassis is too large. For another 16GB stick we are looking at $200+, for smoother Windows would be 32GB needed...In the $500 and above territory for a complete Win machine - at that point you should buy a Mac Mini , which comes with the warranty btw....

Alternative with 16GB DDR5 and 14400 for $283. Only 2 available as I write this.
