I'm not endorsing or defending it, but this thing makes crystal clear ice cubes, not normal cloudy cubes. The design allows water to freeze from the top downward, forcing air out of the bottom as it freezes. To do this It's insulated, which is what makes it so bulky.

Do yourself a favor and get the huge 2inch cubes instead. It still looks nice

Incredibly boneheaded overseas money-grab, even at that price. Hilarous that it says "space-saving design." Totally unnecessary compared to this which works perfectly (quick tap releases it) at half the net cost: https://www.amazon.com/Tovolo-Ice...B007ACTN54

I was able to make crystal clear cubes with the tovolo ones......I remember having to use hot water and maybe one more thing, but I eventually stopped doing it all together when I got a fridge that makes ice

That doesn't make clear ice and it's $0.02 cheaper not half price.

I've got a couple different silicone molds like this and they work fine but are cloudy

Grabbed one, thanks! First $10 or less mold that I've seen that works and makes cubes fairly clear. Bonus it's 2.5" VS 2".
