I got this scale for $9 5 years ago and its gotten somw hard use in that time in our kitchen - its finally started being temperamental with the buttons recently. This is a great price to get a replacement.

I have this scale. It doesn't display incremental changes in weight. If I weigh something that's 3.9grams and keep adding a little weight, it won't change until it goes to 4.2

I bought this exact same model a few years ago, and it only lasted six months with maybe once a week usage. Wouldn't recommend.

Absolute trash. Doesn't give a reliable nor repeatable reading. The buttons are finicky, just a total pass on this. If you're in the market for a scale, the Amazon Basics scale for 10 bucks is quite good and very accurate.

Had the exact same experience. It's been years of almost daily use and it just recently started having issues with the buttons.

Many of these inexpensive food scales eventually go out in various ways, often underweighing things or losing granularity as the mechanisms get worn out, gunked up, or damaged from excessive weight/dropping.

If you're using this for anything that requires relatively good precision and/or accuracy (ie: baking, meal prep, tracking calories/nutrients based on weight, packaging things based on weight), I highly recommend validating the scale every month or so. Often, these failures happen gradually over over time. More expensive kitchen scales can also be subject to such failures.

You could either check it using another scale, to make sure it is consistent, or the best way is to buy a cheap set of check weights and just spot check it now and then, especially if something seems off. You can get a set of check weights for less than 10 bucks. If you're a really cheap, you could use something like 100 mL of water which should weigh approximately 100 g.

i also had this, worked ok for a while 1 year ish, but only used very infrequently and then the readings were quite inaccurate. Always kept it in the box, on a shelf, nothing on it, Knowing it was a "precision" device I pretty much babied the $#1t out of it.

As the guy above mentioned i would check its accuracy. i did it with copper pennies, but i like the h2o method better. At first you assume you are doing something wrong but as time goes on it getts more and more inaccurate and you realize its just a a POS.

In fact it looked new when i threw it away.

I measure food amounts with this. 150g of egg whites. 150g of beef or chicken, 150g of beluga lentils per meal.

I've learned to cover mine with kitchen wrap to keep it clean and damage free.

I do not care about super accuracy; just guidance

I've had this one for almost three years, using it about 3-4 times a week, and mine does just fine adding small amounts to reach a target weight. Sounds like yours might have some internal friction somewhere. I'm sure plenty of these are defective, just like any cheap electronics, particularly those with moving parts, but mine has been reliable and accurate.
