HEB in-store only: Buy $100 or more prepaid Mastercard, Vanilla Visa, or AMEX gift cards, get a free $20 HEB gift card.

Limit 1 per customer per coupon - you can redeem all three coupons and get maximum $60 free HEB gift cards.
Expire Tuesday 1/27/2026.

You must clip the coupons first in HEB app or website.

Here is the purchase fee in my local store
Mastercard fee is $6.95 for $100 card, and $7.95 for variable amount up to $500.
AMEX fee is $6.95 for $100 card, and $7.95 for variable amount up to $500.
Vanilla Visa fee is $7.95 for both $100 card and variable amount up to $500.

HEB gift cards are available at both gift card rack and cashier checkout lanes.

Self-checkout will flag for manager's approval if the gift card amount exceeds $212. It is actually faster to use cashier checkout. No manager's approval is required at cashier checkout. Just let the cashier scan the bar code from your mobile app before totaling.

Please keep in mind, none of these 3 cards give you an option to register online - which means that these cards don't have a name and an address associated with them. Since nowadays almost all merchants verify the billing name and address you typed during online payment against the name and address saved with the credit card, you won't be able to use them online. You will need to use them in store.

Also, Discover card offers 5% cashback from grocery stores this quarter for up to $1,500 purchase. If you want, you can buy a $500 card instead of $100 card especially for Vanilla Visa since the purchase fee is the same between $100 and $500 card and you can use Visa card in Costco store.

True. Fortunately they can be largely offset by credit card cashback as HEB is squarely in the Grocery category.

Thanks! I hate the fees, but ~$45 is still more the I had before. Thanks for posting!

Keep in mind, visiting an HEB in the coming days (at least by me in central Texas) is going to be a major pain in the butt considering the upcoming weather.
