Milwaukee's 19 piece SAE impact socket set stands out as a solid value for occasional heavy duty use, especially for industrial work, plumbing, electricians, and larger bolts. The 1 1 16 socket is handy for hot water heater anode rods, and the Shockwave line gets strong marks for durability. Pricing is highly store dependent, ranging from $33 to $99, with many locations showing $53 to $55. Stock also moves fast, so availability can disappear quickly. A practical pick if SAE sizes fit your tool needs.

  • buyers who are okay with a deal that varies by store and want to keep checking nearby locations, because multiple commenters saw different prices (e.g., $55 in one area, $89 then $53 in another) and some stores still had 20+ or 15 in stock at the time.

  • people who can act fast when the $33-$55 clearance pricing is in stock locally, because commenters report stock can be depleted quickly by scalpers and they had to search other locations to find sets.

  • homeowners who need a specific SAE size for occasional plumbing work, like hot water heater anode rods that use a 1 1/16 socket, because at least that one socket "comes in handy for a homeowner."

  • industrial installers or tradespeople who regularly use SAE impact sizes (like 7/16, 9/16, 3/4, 7/8), because the commenter says they use these for industrial installation work and have been "super happy" with Shockwave sockets they were gifted.

  • buyers shopping in areas where the set is listed at much higher local prices (like $99), because commenters report seeing $99 in places like Boise, LA-area So Cal locations, and Oregon, meaning the $33 deal likely won't be available there.

  • DIYers who mainly need metric sockets and rarely touch imperial, because one commenter couldn't think of any time they'd use 1/2" impact sockets in SAE since "most American cars are metric now."

  • people who want a complete matching socket system (including metric) for infrequent home use, because one buyer passed at $55 due to not having a metric set available and said they only use sockets a couple times a year (tire changes, occasional brake caliper bracket removal).

  • people who are expecting SAE to be a long-term staple, because one commenter says SAE is being cleared out and will soon be "obsolete soon [as] paperweights."

$53 here. Is online popup 'clearance' price for a store accurate, or is there some chance it's really $33 at the register?

35 at my store, but I really only need metric which are full price. Just can't think of any time I would ever use 1/2" impacts in imperial. Even most American cars are metric now.

I'm looking for the 29pc metric set and don't see it below $180. You must have gotten one of the smaller ones?

Yeah, got the 14 piece (10mm to 27mm). I have the 3/8 set for anything smaller, and I'll never need bigger than a 27mm. If I do, for a axle nut or something, I'll buy them individually as needed.

Older yard equipment. The family vacation place is a random mix of SAE and Metric. I usually bring pliers wrench to cover both. Big Grin
