YMMV, Went in to bestbuy to look at the open box HP OMEN - 16" 2K 144Hz Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX 2025 - 32GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - 1TB SSD - Shadow Black that they have listed for $919.99
Decided to buy it, but kept ringing up as $1,249.99 manager came over and said "oooh it's on sale online. Our in store prices haven't updated. I'll sell it to you for $851 because it's on sale new."

Hopefully someone else can save a few bucks also.

its nothing special. it is just an open box laptop that someone returned and listed as good or fair condition price. You should stress test it before deciding to keep it as you wont get any warranty from HP, unless you have total tech or bought bestbuys warranty. Also the price isnt very good for the specs and open box. At least its not 16gb ram.

Im not saying that it's an amazing deal. Just a decent deal. It was the best laptop in stock in my area under $1,200.oo with 32Gb of ram. I thought it was a decent price for it. I bought the two years warranty with it, but thanks for the heads up on the warranty and stress testing idea.

Best buy honors the full manufacturers warranty on open items, but you have to take it to them for service.

seems like an amazing deal to me for 850 or so. 8940HX is a beast, also having 32GB out of the box is really nice.

I don't know about the Open box laptop in this deal but the HP Omen desktop I bought on last Sunday registered successfully on the HP website. It says the warranty is valid from Dec 31, 2025 to January 24, 2027. I don't have any other data point to share as this is my first Open box HP from Best Buy.

OP, The deal is slightly different.
Actually, Open Box Good condition near me is 868 and is available in stock. For the spec with 32GB ram out of the box I think it is a really good deal.
(Given how expensive DRAM is right now.)
Open Box Fair is 828 but OOS near me. Openbox Excellent is 920. Personally I think 868 is the sweet spot for the spec with the powerful Ryzen 9 8940HX, 32GB ram and 1TB.
You can't advertise for 851 because that is a one off discount. 828 Open Box Fair or 868 Good are options others can actually replicate.
